The History of Treadway Electric Company

Treadway Electric Company was founded in 1905, in Little Rock, Arkansas, by Leo Treadway, and his two sons, William Andrew Treadway and Theodore Charles Treadway. Both Will and Theo received Master's Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. Treadway Electric Company holds the record of being "Arkansas' First Electrical Distributor." Treadway Electric Company is the oldest continuing distributor of Square D Company, nationwide.

In 1931, the third generation, W.A. Treadway, Jr., son of W.A.Treadway, and Theo C. Treadway, Jr., son of T.C. Treadway, joined the company, which was then incorporated. The company was in the Treadway family until 2004. In 2004, the company was purchased from the Treadway family and is now wholly owned by the employees.

Today, Treadway Electric Company has one hundred sixty owner/employees. The employees are extensively trained in product knowledge and customer service. For over one hundred years, Treadway Electric Company has served the people of Arkansas with excellence, integrity, and distinction. In order to accomplish it's goals, the company participates in national, regional, and state organizations for the continued knowledge of new products and the advancement of the electrical industry. Examples of such organizations are the National Association of Electrical Distributors, The Independent Electrical Distributors, Electrical League of Arkansas, and the Illuminating Engineering Society of Arkansas.
